The Kingdom of Morocco shares a unique relationship with the historically significant region of Al-Andalus. This bond, enshrined in the Moroccan Constitution, positions the Andalusian legacy as a pivotal element of Morocco's cultural identity. While this connection may seem obvious to Moroccans and scholars familiar with Moroccan culture, it demands detailed academic exploration, especially in the lead-up to the 2030 FIFA World Cup. This event, co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal—three nations with intertwined histories—highlights the importance of this shared heritage in contemporary discussions and places a duty on civil society to maintain the integrity of these conversations.

Our research delves into the Andalusian influence on the formation of modern Moroccan cultural identity. We aim to understand how historical exchanges across the Mediterranean have shaped Morocco’s rich cultural diversity. It is essential to emphasize the mutual nature of this influence: Morocco has enriched Andalusian culture, just as Al-Andalus has significantly influenced Moroccan cultural heritage. This exchange is evident in various fields, including architecture, music, craftsmanship, linguistics, toponymy...

This symposium seeks to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the impact of the Andalusian heritage on these diverse aspects, while recognizing the reciprocal nature of these influences. We invite scholarly contributions to explore how this cultural legacy shapes the intricate mosaic of Moroccan identity. This academic forum is an opportunity for deep reflection on the complexity and diversity of Moroccan culture, encouraging discussions on how this legacy can inspire future generations and contribute to global intercultural dialogue in an ever-evolving world.
